Expense Tracker for US Uber, Lyft, and DoorDash Drivers
If you're a US rideshare or delivery driver — Uber driver, Lyft driver, DoorDash driver, Instacart shopper, or any other gig worker — this free expense tracker template is pre-configured with the categories you'll need for Schedule C. Vehicle expenses go on Schedule C Line 9, supplies (delivery bags, phone chargers, dashcam) on Line 22, commissions and platform fees on Line 10, and cell phone/data on Line 25 at business-use percentage.
The single biggest deduction for most rideshare drivers is mileage. The 2026 IRS standard mileage rate is $0.725 per mile, which on 15,000 business miles equals $10,875 in deductions. Without a mileage log, that deduction is disallowed. See our 2026 IRS mileage rate guide and pair this template with our mileage tracker app so every Uber pickup, DoorDash drop, and Instacart delivery is logged with Google Maps auto-calculated distance.
A note on 1099-K: starting in 2026, third-party payment platforms (Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Stripe) issue Form 1099-K at the $600 transaction threshold per the latest IRS phase-in. Your gross earnings from the platform show up on that 1099-K; your expenses (including mileage) are what reduce it to taxable income on Schedule C. Tracking expenses carefully is how gig worker tax bills go from painful to manageable.
For full Schedule C automation — every Uber trip, every DoorDash delivery, every platform commission — use the Schedule C expense tracker. For freelancers beyond rideshare, see the freelancer expense tracker. Canadian rideshare drivers: see our T2125 Uber driver guide.
