How to add the ExpenseBot connector to Claude
Connectors used to mean pasting a server URL into a developer settings screen. That step is gone — ExpenseBot is a listed connector, so it takes two clicks:
- In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and search "ExpenseBot" — or open the ExpenseBot listing directly.
- Click Connect, sign in with the Google account you use for ExpenseBot, and approve the tool categories on the consent screen.
No personal access token, no JSON config file, no URL pasting. Two things are worth knowing first. Connectors require a paid Claude plan — that's Anthropic's rule, not ours; on free Claude you can still use the web dashboard, the Gmail scan and photo capture, you just can't drive them from inside Claude. About the "Community" label
Claude lists ExpenseBot as a Community connector and shows a note before you connect saying it hasn't been reviewed in depth by Anthropic. That's worth reading correctly: it describes how much reviewing Anthropic did, not whether the connector works or how it treats your data. Once connected it behaves like any other connector.
What sits behind it, so you can judge for yourself:
- CASA Tier 2 certification covers the whole ExpenseBot data path — an independent security assessment required for the Google API scopes we use.

How do I add a connector to Claude?
In Claude, open Settings and choose Connectors, then search the directory for the connector you want and click Connect. For ExpenseBot, search "ExpenseBot" or open the listing directly, then sign in with the Google account you use for ExpenseBot and approve the consent screen. There is no server URL to paste and no token to manage.
Do Claude connectors require a paid plan?

Where does my expense data live?
In a Google Sheet inside your own Google Drive. ExpenseBot reads and writes that sheet; it is not a copy held on our servers, and Claude never receives a bulk export. Revoke access at any time and the sheet stays yours.
Can Claude read my expenses without my permission?
No. Tools are grouped into scope-gated categories you explicitly approve on the OAuth consent screen, and only the results of tools you actually invoke enter the conversation. ExpenseBot never pushes your data into a chat on its own.
