For credit card reconciliation, upload your statement as a PDF, or in a transaction-level format: CSV, OFX, QFX, MT940, or CAMT. Most cards offer a CSV download from their online portal under Statements or Transaction History; many US banks also offer OFX/QFX.
An annual PDF is supported when it includes an itemized transaction appendix. ExpenseBot uses a specialized reader for year-end summaries such as AMEX. A document with only category totals and no individual transactions cannot be reconciled. In that case, download a transaction export (CSV) from the card issuer instead; for AMEX, use Statements & Activity → Download → Spreadsheet (CSV).
Monthly CSVs also work — upload one file at a time. One continuous full-year CSV export is fine too.
