ExpenseBot doesn't read SMS directly, but there are three easy ways to capture those receipts:
Easiest — Forward the text to receipts@expensebot.ai
If the SMS contains a URL (like a Clover or Toast receipt link), just forward the text message to receipts@expensebot.ai. ExpenseBot will automatically open the link and capture the receipt — no screenshot needed.
On iPhone: long-press the message → tap More… → tap the forward arrow → type receipts@expensebot.ai.
On Android: long-press the message → tap Forward → type receipts@expensebot.ai.
Screenshot method
If the SMS is an image or plain text (not a link), screenshot it and either:
- Email the screenshot to receipts@expensebot.ai, or
- Upload via Add Receipts → From Google Photos in ExpenseBot.
Gmail auto-scan
Toast and Clover also email you a copy of each receipt. If your Gmail is connected to ExpenseBot, those come in automatically — no forwarding needed. Our deduplication catches the same receipt whether it arrived via email or your forwarded SMS, so it only lands in your spreadsheet once.
