Yes — you can scan well beyond the default window. (If you saw "your subscription covers the current year" on the pricing page and worried that meant you're limited to this year — that line is just describing what the subscription covers; past years are still available, just as a separate one-time unlock. Here's how the full picture works.)
Free: the last 60 days
When you first connect Gmail, ExpenseBot automatically scans the last 60 days (a rolling window). That's included free, and your nightly scans keep it current going forward.
Scan the current calendar year — subscribe
To pull in the current calendar year, head to the Gmail scan page (the "Scan Gmail for receipts & income" button, or expensebot.ai/gmail). You'll see year cards. A subscription unlocks current-year catch-up and ongoing nightly scanning — so you can scan everything year-to-date and keep new receipts flowing automatically.
Click a locked current-year card and you'll be prompted to subscribe. The annual plan is the best value — roughly 2 months free versus paying monthly ($10/month or $100/year per seat).
Scan last completed calendar year — one-time $79 unlock
Need last completed calendar year for taxes? When you pick last year's card, you'll be offered a $79 one-time historical unlock.
This unlock also opens the Year-End workbook for that same year (My Reports → Year-End), with no subscription needed.
The included year is fixed when you pay, so you do not need to choose it. If one Gmail inbox is ready, ExpenseBot starts the included scan automatically. If Gmail is not connected, open Scan Gmail for receipts & income and choose Connect Gmail; the included scan starts after the inbox connects. If ExpenseBot asks you to choose between connected inboxes, select the one you want and then start the included year.
Go further back — $199 Any Past Year access
Need an older year or a custom historical range? When you pick an older year card, you'll be offered $199 one-time Any Past Year access. That unlocks every completed calendar year available when you purchase across all connected Gmail accounts, one year at a time. The included years never expire; a year that completes later (for example, last year once January arrives) can be unlocked separately with a $79 one-time Named-Year purchase. Any Past Year access also opens the Year-End workbook for each of those years.
If your tax year doesn't follow the calendar
In the UK (6 April to 5 April), Australia (1 July to 30 June), New Zealand and India (1 April to 31 March), South Africa (1 March to the end of February) and Hong Kong personal tax (1 April to 31 March), the year cards on the Gmail scan page are tax years. Each card names the tax year and shows its dates. You scan a whole tax year at a time, and the prices work the same way: $79 unlocks the one tax year you pick, and $199 Any Past Year access covers every tax year that has already ended when you purchase. The tax year still in progress is covered by a subscription, like the current calendar year. Year End opens on the same tax year.
Everywhere else (for example the US and Canada) the cards stay calendar years. If you see calendar-year cards in a country that uses a tax year, your account is probably a business or team account, or you set your own reporting year; in that case unlock the calendar years you need.
