To get an Uber receipt, open the trip in your trip history, either in the Uber app or on the web at riders.uber.com/trips, and choose Receipt. From there you can view it, resend it by email, or download it as a PDF. Uber also emails a receipt to the address on your account when each trip ends, so searching your inbox for "Uber" is often faster still.
If you are collecting ride receipts for work, the goal is usually to turn ride receipts into a trip expense report, and the quick answer above does not get you all the way there. The rest of this guide covers what it skips: older trips and many trips at once, the receipt email that never arrived, business profiles, Uber Eats and Lyft, and which of Uber's emails actually counts as a receipt.
How to get an Uber receipt
There are three places a single Uber receipt lives.
In the Uber app
- Open the app menu and tap Your Trips.
- Select the trip.
- Under the amount paid, tap Receipt.
On the web
- Sign in at riders.uber.com/trips.
- Click My Trips and select the trip.
- Click View Receipt or Resend Receipt. View Receipt lets you print it, resend it, or download it as a PDF.
The web is the better route when you need a PDF to attach to an expense claim, because the download lands straight on your computer.
In your email
When a trip ends, Uber automatically sends a receipt to the email address on your Uber account. For a ride in the last few weeks, searching your inbox for "Uber" and the date is usually the fastest route of all.
In some countries a trip can also have a separate tax invoice, issued through a tax profile on your Uber account. Uber's help pages cover that country by country.
Getting receipts for older trips, or a lot of trips at once
Older trips work the same way: open the trip from your trip history and view, resend or download the receipt. Uber's help pages say your account keeps a history of the trips you have taken, but they do not publish how far back that history goes, so if a trip is missing, look for the emailed receipt from the time instead.
Many trips on a personal account. As of September 2026, Uber's rider help pages describe getting receipts one trip at a time. We did not find a documented way to download every receipt from a personal account at once. If you need a year of ride receipts, the emails Uber already sent you are the practical bulk source, which is what the last section of this guide is about.
Uber for Business. Rides on a company Uber for Business account are easier. An administrator signs in at business.uber.com, opens the Activity tab, finds the trip and downloads the receipt, or emails it, depending on how the account is billed. For many trips, the Reports tab builds a custom CSV, and selecting the Receipt PDF column includes a receipt for each trip. Administrators can also have receipts for rides on the account forwarded to them automatically.
This guide is about receipts for rides you took as a passenger. If you drive for Uber and need your earnings history, that is a different download, covered in downloading your Uber CSV for taxes and the Uber driver tax tracker.
Why you didn't get the Uber receipt email
Work down this list. The first two cover most cases.
- It went to spam or junk. Check those folders for the email address on your account, and mark Uber's emails as not junk so the next ones arrive.
- The email on your account is old or wrong. Check and update it in the app's settings. Uber sends receipts to the address on the account.
- The ride was on a business profile. A business profile charges rides to a business payment method and sends receipts to the work email on that profile, and it can also forward them to your company's expense system. Check your work inbox before you assume it is missing.
- Someone else booked the ride. If a colleague or an assistant requested the ride from their account, the receipt went to their email. They need to forward it or resend it.
Whatever the cause, you can resend any receipt from riders.uber.com/trips, and it goes to the current email on the account.
Uber Eats receipts
- In the Uber Eats app, tap the Account icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Choose Orders, then Past Orders.
- Open the order and tap View receipt.
Uber Eats also emails a receipt to the address on your account after the order, and the same spam and wrong-address checks apply when it does not arrive.
Lyft receipts
In the Lyft app, open the menu, tap Ride history, and tap a ride to see its receipt. Lyft emails a receipt after the payment for a ride is processed, and Ride history goes back as far as October 2014.
Lyft documents something Uber's personal accounts do not: a multi-ride export. In Ride history, tap Export (top right on iPhone, or the download icon on Android), choose the rides you need, and tap Send report. Lyft emails you a ride report with the receipts for every ride you selected, which is the quickest way to pull a month of rides for an expense claim.
If you ride on a Lyft business profile, receipts can be forwarded to your company's expense management service, so check there if one is not in your personal inbox.

Trip summary vs receipt: what counts for an expense report or taxes
Uber and Lyft send more emails than receipts. Recap emails, such as a summary of your rides for the month or the year, list trips but are not receipts for any of them, and some trip or ride summaries say outright that they are not a payment receipt. The document to keep is the per-trip receipt, the one that shows what you were charged for that ride.
For an expense report, a ride receipt usually shows what you need:
- the date of the trip,
- the amount you paid,
- how you paid, and
- where the trip started and ended.
The one thing no ride receipt shows is why you took the trip. The business purpose, such as "client meeting at their office", is yours to add, on the expense report or in a note beside the receipt.
For US taxes, IRS Publication 463 says your documentary evidence must show the amount, date, place and essential character of the expense. The publication also lists exceptions where documentary evidence is not required, including an expense other than lodging that is under $75, and a transportation expense where a receipt is not readily available. Rideshare apps make a receipt readily available for every trip, and your employer's reimbursement policy may require one regardless of the tax rules, so keep them.
For Canadian taxes, the CRA's Keeping records guidance says you generally must keep records and supporting documents for six years from the end of the last tax year they relate to. A digital copy of the receipt email or PDF is a practical way to keep a ride receipt that long.

Stop hunting for ride receipts
Everything above is retrieval: going back for a receipt after you need it. Because Uber, Uber Eats and Lyft all email a receipt for every trip or order, the receipts are almost always already sitting in an inbox. The work is collecting them.
ExpenseBot is a receipt scanner that reads Uber, Uber Eats and Lyft receipt emails from Gmail and writes each one into a Google Sheet in your own Google Drive. It picks up new receipts as they arrive and can also go back through mail that is already there. Without a subscription the scan covers a rolling 60-day window, a subscription covers the current calendar year, and each completed prior year is a one-time unlock scanned one year at a time. Recap emails are skipped rather than counted as expenses, so a month of rides is not recorded twice.
The limit is worth stating plainly. ExpenseBot only sees the Gmail inbox you connect. It does not sign in to Uber or Lyft, and it cannot find a receipt that was never emailed to that inbox. If your business profile sends receipts to a work address, that is the inbox to connect; a subscription can connect up to three Gmail accounts. It works with Gmail and Google Workspace mailboxes only.
See how the scan decides what counts as a receipt on the Gmail receipt scanner page. If you are claiming rides back from an employer, employee expense reimbursement covers that side, and when the rides belong to a business trip, the next step is to turn ride receipts into a trip expense report. The same recover-it-first approach for a store purchase is in looking up a Walmart receipt.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a receipt for an old Uber trip?
Open the trip from your trip history, in the Uber app or at riders.uber.com/trips, and view, resend or download the receipt the same way you would for a recent ride. Uber's help pages say your account keeps a trip history but do not publish how far back it goes. The receipt Uber emailed after the trip is often the easier record to find for an old ride, so search your inbox for Uber and the approximate date first.
I took about 40 Ubers for work this year. Can I download all the receipts at once?
Not from a personal account, as far as Uber's rider help pages document. As of September 2026 they describe viewing, resending or downloading a receipt one trip at a time. Uber for Business is different: an administrator can build a CSV from the Reports tab at business.uber.com that includes a Receipt PDF column. If the rides were on a personal account, the receipts Uber already emailed you are the practical bulk source, and a tool that reads your inbox can collect them in one pass.
Why didn't I get an Uber receipt email?
Check the spam or junk folder first, and mark Uber's emails as not junk. Then check that the email address on your Uber account is current. If the ride was on a business profile, the receipt goes to the work email on that profile. If someone else booked the ride from their account, the receipt went to their email. You can resend any receipt from riders.uber.com/trips.
How do I get a receipt for an Uber ride someone else booked for me?
Uber sends the receipt to the email address on the account that booked the trip, so it is in the booker's inbox, not yours. Ask them to forward that email, or to resend the receipt from the trip in their own trip history.
Is an Uber receipt enough for an expense report or taxes?
The per-trip receipt is usually the right document, because it shows the amount charged, the date and the trip. What it cannot show is why you took the ride, so add the business purpose yourself. In the US, IRS Publication 463 says documentary evidence must show the amount, date, place and essential character of an expense. Your employer's reimbursement policy may ask for more than the tax rules do. Estimates — confirm with your tax professional.
How do I get a Lyft receipt?
In the Lyft app, open the menu, tap Ride history, and tap a ride to see its receipt. Lyft also emails a receipt after the payment for a ride is processed. To get several at once, use Export in Ride history, choose the rides, and Lyft emails you a ride report with their receipts.
How do I get an Uber Eats receipt?
In the Uber Eats app, tap the Account icon, choose Orders and then Past Orders, open the order, and tap View receipt. Uber Eats also emails a receipt to the address on your account after the order.
The Uber, Uber for Business, Uber Eats and Lyft steps described here were checked against each company's published help pages on 2026-09-14, as were the IRS Publication 463 and CRA record-keeping references. Apps change their menus from time to time. If a menu name differs from what you see, look for the equivalent option under your account or trip history.
