The real difference is what happens after a receipt is found
WellyBox is built around collecting receipts — from several inbox providers and from WhatsApp photos — and sending them on to a spreadsheet export, cloud storage or accounting software. For a freelancer whose job ends at "get the receipts to my accountant," that is a complete workflow.
ExpenseBot keeps going after the receipt is found. Each receipt becomes a row in a Google Sheet in your own Drive, with the source email or file kept as evidence. You review and correct that ledger, and can optionally connect a supported bank or card for credit card reconciliation so charges with no receipt stand out. Business income goes in the same place through the income and expense tracker. At year-end you generate a Year-End workbook with category summaries, the receipts behind each line, and a frozen Income Statement snapshot.

The distinction is between an export and a working record. Switching without losing records
- Export your receipt images and structured data from WellyBox (PDF, CSV or Excel).
- Open the export and confirm it contains the period you need before you cancel anything.
- Connect Gmail to ExpenseBot; the first scan covers the last 60 days.
- Scan only the dates you are entitled to: the current year with a subscription, or a completed year with a one-time unlock.
- Review the sheet for duplicates and gaps against your WellyBox export.
- Keep the WellyBox export as source evidence for the earlier period.
There is no WellyBox importer, and re-scanning Gmail is not proof that every historical document will be recovered — receipts that only ever lived in Outlook, iCloud or WhatsApp will not appear in a Gmail scan.
