If ExpenseBot's automatic Gmail scan is emailing you more often than you want, you can switch to a single weekly digest instead of an email after each productive scan.
Change it (two clicks)
- Open the Automation Hub.
- In the Gmail Scanner card, find Scan result emails.
- Choose Weekly digest — "Combine routine successful scan results into one Monday email."
The other choice is After scans with new activity (the default, marked Recommended): "Get a summary soon after an automatic scan records something."
Important: this changes the EMAIL, not the scanning
Your Gmail is still scanned every day in both modes. Receipts and income keep landing in your Google Sheet on the same daily schedule — you are only changing how often ExpenseBot tells you about it. Nothing is collected less often, and nothing is missed.
What still emails you right away
Weekly digest batches the routine successes. These are not held back:
- Problems — a scan that failed, or a Gmail connection that needs reconnecting.
- Items needing your review.
- Manual and historical scans — if you press the scan button yourself, you get that result when it finishes, not next Monday.
So a quiet week means things worked; it never means a problem is sitting unreported.
The scan already stays quiet when there is nothing to say
Even on the default setting, the daily scanner does not email you when it found nothing new. If you are getting a message most days, that means most days it is finding receipts.
Other email controls (these are separate)
- Scheduled report emails (expense reports, income reports, P&L) have their own Weekly / Monthly / Quarterly / Yearly schedule on their own cards in the Automation Hub. Changing one of those does not change your scan-result emails, and vice versa.
- Deadline reminders and feature tips live in Settings → Email Preferences.
- Account, billing, security, scans you requested, and reports you scheduled always send.
