It's rare — the scanner already searches for keywords like "receipt" and "order" across all senders — but some emails can still be misclassified by the AI. For example, order confirmations with "not yet charged" disclaimers may be skipped because the AI treats them as non-receipts.
Here's what to do if a receipt was missed:
- Label the email in Gmail: Open the missed email and apply the "ExpenseBot" label (it should already be in your label list from when you connected Gmail).
- Process it in ExpenseBot: Click Find receipts in Gmail — the labeled email will appear in your suggested receipts. Process it from there and it will be added to your spreadsheet.
- Let us know: Email support@expensebot.ai with details about the missed receipt so we can investigate and improve the detection for everyone.
Why this helps: Processing a missed receipt teaches the AI on your account to recognize that sender going forward. Future emails from the same sender will be automatically included in scans.
Common reasons for missed receipts:
- Order confirmations with "this is not a charge" language
- Receipts landing in Gmail's Promotions tab
- Receipts embedded in marketing/promotional emails
- Unusual receipt formats from niche vendors
- Very old emails near the edge of the scan window
These edge cases are rare — the vast majority of receipt emails are caught automatically.
