ExpenseBot

Is there an expense tracker app for India that scans Gmail?

Yes — ExpenseBot is a Gmail-native expense tracker built for India, and the honest twist is that there is no app to install. It runs in your browser and installs as a PWA (add-to-home-screen) if you want an icon, but the actual work happens in your Gmail inbox — the receipts are already there, so nothing new to download, log…

Yes — ExpenseBot is a Gmail-native expense tracker built for India, and the honest twist is that there is no app to install. It runs in your browser and installs as a PWA (add-to-home-screen) if you want an icon, but the actual work happens in your Gmail inbox — the receipts are already there, so nothing new to download, log into, or teach your team.

Why "no app" is the point

Most expense apps in India ask you to change a habit: snap every receipt, forward every bill, or open the app before you forget. That step is the one that never reliably happens. ExpenseBot removes it. You connect your Google account once (read-only), and the AI scans your inbox for receipt emails, extracts the merchant, amount, GST, and date, and writes each one into a Google Sheet you own — in INR.

  • Works from your inbox — Amazon.in order confirmations, Flipkart invoices, Swiggy/Zomato bills, Jio/Airtel statements, SaaS receipts, and any other merchant that emails a receipt. The scanner reads the content of the email, not a fixed merchant list, so an Indian sender is captured exactly like any other.
  • Web + PWA, any device — use it on a laptop or add it to an Android/iPhone home screen. No Play Store or App Store download required.
  • Your data stays in your Google Drive — the spreadsheet and receipt images live in your own Drive, under your control.

Built for Indian tax

  • GST split done for you. Every receipt's CGST + SGST (intra-state) or IGST (inter-state) is separated automatically, with UTGST for Union Territories. Each report's Summary tab carries a Sales Tax Breakdown matching GSTR-3B's federal and state ITC lines. (This is display + reconciliation support — ExpenseBot does not file returns for you.)
  • ITR-ready categories. Expenses map to ITR-3 / ITR-4 schedule heads, and the year-end report summarizes them so your CA can file directly.
  • Rupees, natively. INR is detected and totalled as your home currency. Foreign receipts are converted at the transaction-date rate, with the original amount kept on the row.

Honest about pricing

ExpenseBot's pricing is currently shown in USD, and there's a 60-day free trial with no credit card. Capture, GST split, and INR totals all work during the trial — so you can see a real month of your own receipts before deciding.
