You don't need to download anything. ExpenseBot runs in your browser on iPhone, iPad, Android and computers. Go to expensebot.ai and sign in; you stay signed in on that browser, so next time it opens straight to your account. You do not need the Google Sheets app to use ExpenseBot.
Want it to feel like an app? Install ExpenseBot to your Home Screen. It adds an ExpenseBot icon that opens full screen, which is the easiest way to get back to it, and lets ExpenseBot send you notifications.
- From ExpenseBot on your phone or tablet: open Settings (the gear icon), go to App & Notifications → Install ExpenseBot, and choose Add to Home Screen. This card appears only on phones and tablets, and only until ExpenseBot is installed.
- iPhone or iPad (Safari): tap Share, scroll down, tap Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.
- Android (Chrome or Edge): accept the Install App prompt, or use the browser menu's install option.
Then open the ExpenseBot icon. On iPhone and iPad, the Home Screen app keeps its own sign-in separate from Safari, so you may need to sign in once the first time you open it. After that it stays signed in like the browser.
You'll only be asked to sign in again if your Google access is removed or expires, for example after you revoke ExpenseBot in your Google account.
Taking receipt photos with no signal. If you lose your connection while ExpenseBot is open, keep using Take Photo of Receipt. ExpenseBot tells you you're offline and saves each photo on your phone. When the connection comes back, the saved photos upload automatically; you don't need to do anything. If you close ExpenseBot first, they upload the next time you open it with a connection. Saved photos stay on your phone until they upload and are never deleted automatically. Open ExpenseBot while you still have signal: opening it for the first time with no connection at all shows an "Offline" page.
The Google Sheets app is optional for directly viewing or editing the underlying spreadsheet. It is not a replacement for ExpenseBot's mobile interface. For spreadsheet-specific instructions, see viewing and editing your spreadsheet on mobile.
