If you reconnected Google and ExpenseBot can no longer find a previously working spreadsheet or its receipts, do not reset the account or repeatedly run setup. ExpenseBot stores the expense spreadsheet and receipt files in your Google Drive, and support must first determine whether the old file can be relinked or safely rebuilt.

If this is your first setup

Try setup once more after checking these two things:

  1. Your Google Drive has available storage.
  2. If you use a managed Google Workspace account, your administrator allows ExpenseBot to create Drive files.

ExpenseBot automatically cleans up temporary folders and spreadsheets when setup fails, so retrying should not leave extra blank files.

If ExpenseBot worked before

Do not reset the account or delete the old spreadsheet. Your receipt history may still be in that file even when ExpenseBot has lost access to it.

Contact support@expensebot.ai and say that this is a prior-working account with a missing spreadsheet. If you already know the old Google Sheets URL, include it, but do not reset the account or repeatedly run setup.

Support will first verify whether the original sheet can be safely relinked. If Google Drive confirms that it is gone and the source Gmail messages still carry ExpenseBot's terminal labels, support can create one replacement sheet and replay those exact messages without asking you to resend receipts. A linked Gmail inbox whose Google access was revoked still requires its owner to reconnect that inbox; ExpenseBot cannot bypass Google's consent screen.

If the error mentions Google Drive storage or an administrator

  • Drive storage full: free some space or increase Google storage, then retry setup.
  • Workspace administrator required: ask the administrator to allow ExpenseBot, then reconnect Google and retry.

Avoid repeatedly pressing the setup button while an error is still showing. One retry after fixing the underlying Drive or permission issue is enough.
